Condom use is not always easy. To negotiate condom use can be even more challenging, which is why people end up having unsafe sex. Most of us say we love ourselves, but we continue to place ourselves at risk and harm by having unprotected sex. Human behavior is a direct result of our values, beliefs, and attitudes.
Many men and women prefer to have safe sex; however the partner(s) may refuse. This creates barriers to correct condom use and increased risk to STIs/HIV and pregnancy if the woman is not using another form of birth control.
The decision to use a condom is about behavior change, which is not always easy. Hence to actually use condoms requires information and skills on how to use them followed by the motivation or desire to use it and the ability to negotiate with a partner. As a training manager on the FC2 Female Condom, this is what I teach people on a daily basis.
Condom use is so much better when both partners have agreed on its use.
