In this column I’ll be discussing the FC2 female condom: an attractive option for protected and pleasurable sex. I will define what the female condom is and what it can mean for you and your sex life.

As an expert in the field of gender, sex, and sexual health, I try to discuss topics that are normally a little challenging to talk about. Since I started working as a Project Manager for The Female Health Company, an issue I often bring up in conversation is safer sex or more specifically, the importance of knowing your safer sex-options.

Raising awareness about safer sex is very important. People who know about their options for having protected sex can make better-informed decisions. And people do not always know about the female condom. Have you ever considered that safe sex can also bring more pleasure? That it, in fact, doesn’t have to be controlled by the man?

The female condom is the only currently available female-controlled dual-protection method that protects from unwanted pregnancies and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV. It brings empowerment and a choice for women to better negotiate safer sex.
